Position: Bolognese side of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines

Type: sandstone barn

Composition: complex originally consisted of the a farmhouse, a large barn and a small barn

Philosophy of restoration works: the restoration and conservative renewal is intended to transform the barn into a modern home that proudly preserves the traces of its past and its history. Particular attention is given to the recovery of existing materials (sandstone, wood and terracotta stone) and their union with modern materials such as steel and large windows, in a harmonious synchrony between past and present.  The space and the thickness of the walls create a threshold between the inside and the outside. The global reading of the original space is fully maintained though introducing a new functional program. The new window allows to simply equip and furnish this beautiful room, bringing domestic life inside the barn. It is indeed a welcoming and embracing space, open to the beautiful landscape, creating a living theatre on the Apennines.
