Sentiero Italia: the longest hight street in the world

Have you heard of Sentiero Italia? It is a path of over 6000km developing along the entire Apennine ridge, including the islands, and on the southern slope of the Alps. Created in 1983 by a group of excursionist journalists, gathered together in the Associazione Sentiero Italia, the itinerary was made by CAI in 1990. It was inaugurated in 1995 with the great event organized by the CAI “Camminaitalia 95”, then repeated in 1999 together with the National Alpine Association (ANA). The chain of paths that make up the Sentiero Italia is currently almost completely marked with the colors white and red and the words “S.I.”

2019 is the year of the slow journey and the year of the Va’Sentiero project, which stems from the idea of three young people walking the entire Sentiero Italia, the longest high street in the world: over six thousand kilometers characterized by an incredible variety of landscapes and cultures.

Along the Sentiero there are hundreds of ancient villages, often unknown to those who live in the city.

Ancient burgs, recovery and the Apennines are a common passion and commitment, and so we decided to financially support the project, adopting a stage of the journey: the route that winds through the Apennines of Emilia and Tuscany will be called Old New Italy!

All we have to do now is follow their adventures and those of people who want to join in the journey on www.vasentiero.org
